Student Leadership Teams
Empowering Our Future Leaders
At Oakhurst, we believe that every child has the potential to lead and the right to be heard. Our school is more than just a place of learning; it is a community shaped by the voices and actions of our students. By stepping into roles of responsibility, our pupils embody our core value of Unity, working together to foster an inclusive environment where everyone belongs. It takes Courage to step forward and lead others, and we nurture the Ambition of every child to strive for excellence, not just in their studies, but in their character.
We are deeply committed to the personal development of our pupils, providing meaningful opportunities for them to develop British values, build resilience, and take an active role in school life. By encouraging children to take ownership of their school environment, we are helping them grow into confident, responsible, and compassionate citizens who understand the impact of their contribution.
Why we lead:
-
Unity: Building a school where we all look out for one another.
-
Courage: Finding the confidence to stand up for what is right.
-
Ambition: Aiming high to make our school the best it can be.

What do they do?
You'll find the Librarians hard at work during lunchtimes and dedicated library sessions during Early Morning Task. They play a vital role in keeping our reading spaces inspiring and well-organised. Their daily duties include:
- Helping other children find their next favourite author or specific genre.
- Organising and shelving books to keep our library tidy and inviting.
- Managing the loan system to ensure that books are checked out and returned safely.
- Creating displays to highlight new arrivals or seasonal themes.
Cultivating a love of reading
Our Librarians are true ambassadors for reading. Beyond the practical tasks, they act as 'Reading Mentors' by offering recommendations and sharing their passion for stories. By taking on this role, they demonstrate incredible Ambition for our school's standards and Unity by supporting their fellow students' learning journeys.
Are you looking for your next adventure? Ask one of our Librarians for a recommendation - they'll know exactly where the best stories are hiding.
Become a Wellbeing Ambassador
At our school, we believe that kindness is a superpower. To help make our playgrounds the happiest places they can be, we have a dedicated team of Wellbeing Ambassadors. This is a group of children chosen specifically for their empathy, big hearts and commitment to helping others. What do they do?
Our Ambassadors are the 'eyes and ears' of kindness during the school day. Their mission is simple but vital: to ensure that no child ever feels alone. You'll spot them easily by the special badges they wear with pride. During break times and lunchtimes, they are on the lookout for anyone who:
- Looks like they need a friend to talk to.
- Is sitting alone and wants to join in with a game.
- Needs a little extra support or a friendly smile.
The Golden Book: Celebrating Kindness
Our Ambassadors don't just support those in need; they also celebrate the everyday heroes among us! When an Ambassador spots someone spreading joy or going out of their way to be helpful, they record that student's name in our prestigious Golden Book.
Every Friday, the names collected in the Golden Book are read out during our whole-school Pride of Oakhurst Assembly. It is a wonderful moment where we come together to celebrate the positivity and heart that make our school community so special.
Need a friend or spotted some super kindness? Just look for the badge! Our Ambassadors are always ready to listen, play or help you find your way.
