Dear Friends,
Its that time of year again when I will be hosting a charity event on behalf of my company, Meditec Training.
This year as we all feel the relentless pinch of the economic climate, so do many good and worthy charities, a huge amount are failing and have been collapsing. The charity I have chosen to support this year is The Prospect Hospice based in Wroughton near Swindon:

When I set up my business I wanted to host one or two charity events a year. I am passionate about life saving CPR training and helping local charities, so as a unique way of fund raising, I thought it would be great to give people a fantastic life skill whilst raising money for charity.
This is a different approach to fundraising as people will be getting something out of it. I was attending a lecture at Oxford Brookes University, this lecture was on end of life care for patients. We had two fantastic Senior Nurse guest speakers from the Prospect Hospice, they informed us of what their jobs entailed and how people receive end of life care within Swindon and the surrounding areas. They stated that the Prospect Hospice costs around £5 million pounds a year to run and that most of this was from donations and very little from government funding.
Having worked in clinical areas myself, I have firsthand experience of the importance of end of life care patients receive. I understand that the Hospice has lots of people who volunteer to keep the Hospice running in order to provide the outstanding service patients receive. Losing a loved one is devastating and terribly sad for people and services such as the Prospect Hospice is an amazing service and support mechanism for those at the end of their life and the loved ones they leave behind. Therefore, if we can raise some funds for this amazing cause, it would be a pleasure, ensuring more people are able to receive this outstanding service of care, compassion, support and dignity towards the end of their life.
I am delighted to let you know that this event will be taking place in Oakhurst Community Hall at Oakhurst Community Primary School in Swindon; this has kindly been arranged with the head teacher Mr. Dale Burr.
The day will be split into 3 sessions and will take place on Saturday 21st May 2011.
1. Session 1 will be from 09.30 1130
2. Session 2 will be from 12.00pm 14.00
3. Session 3 will be from 14.30 16.30
We can accommodate up to 24 people in each session and they will be taught:
Adult, child and infant resuscitation. CPR.
Treatment of the unconscious casualty and recovery position
Treatment of choking in adults, children and infants
We ask for a minimum donation of £10.00 per person, if people were to pay for this session normally the cost would be in excess of £35-£45 per person. All persons attending and taking part in the training will receive a certificate that confirms their attendance and formal training in CPR.
Each person will have the opportunity to purchase a resuscitation face shield that can be used when administering CPR.
All monies and donations from the face shields and direct CPR training will all go towards the Prospect Hospice.
On the day we will provide tea and coffee and we are asking friends and family to make homemade cakes and other goodies so we can take a suggest donation of £1.00 for tea, coffee and a slice of cake after working up a sweat practicing CPR skills.
This is a great opportunity to raise some money for the Prospect Hospice; however, its slightly different in other fundraisers as the people attending this day will actually be learning a great life skill of CPR training. All ages welcome from aged 11-111!! It will be a great day.
If you are unable to attend the training session and you want to get involved, we welcome any donations of homemade cakes and goodies as we can sell these on the day to raise more money for the Hospice!
Please tell your friends, family and loved ones and we hope to see you there. To book you place, please email info@meditec-training.co.uk
